REGISTER YOUR YACHT IN THE CAYMAN ISLANDS FROM $1499

The Cayman Islands enjoy a rich seafaring heritage. The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry (CISR) is part of the Red Ensign Group of Category One British registries comprising: Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, Isle of Man and the UK. As a Category One British Registry (granted in 1991), the Cayman Islands are able to register vessels of all sizes and classes, from small yachts to super tankers.

The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry, a division of the Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands, is now the favourite location for registering pleasure yachts with reputedly over half the world’s super yachts on its register as well as a fleet of well maintained commercial ships. Some of the reasons for the CISR’s prominence may be summarised as follows:

The following documentation should be submitted for a full registration

  • You need to fill in our online form. It will take only a few minutes to fill in and submit to us. We will check all info you have submitted and calculate your exact fees as these depend on several factors. We will notify you of the exact fees to be paid and send you another form, to appoint a Cayman Firm to be your local AUTHORISED PERSON.
  • 2. We need a copy of the vessel’s Bill of Sale, notarised or bearing company seal; If the vessel is NEW, we need a Builder’s Certificate, notarised or bearing seal or stamp of yard.
  • 3. Certificate of Good Standing for the owning company (current within three months). If the company is incorporated in the Cayman Islands within the same year of the registration, a copy of the Certificate of Incorporation is sufficient. If the owner is an individual (or joint owners), we will need a notarised copy of his/her passport;
  • 4. We need a Closed Transcript or Deletion Certificate if the vessel was registered elsewhere;
  • 5. Certificate of Survey and International Tonnage Certificate. The certificates and documents required to be carried onboard ships will depend on the size of vessel, type of vessel, its use, number of persons, etc. We will let you know after receiving your initial online form, what we require for your specific vessel. In most cases a prior Certificate of Survey is fine, as long as it was issued by the classification Societies authorized by the Cayman Maritime authority.
  • 6. We will submit all paperwork with the Cayman Maritime Registry and follow-up with them.

Under normal circumstances, transactions are completed within 24 hours upon receipt of all forms, supporting documentation and applicable fees.
